Christopher Reeve – Superman 3D Tribute

This isn’t my work. It was made by someone brilliant named Francesco Accattatis.

I think Warner Brothers home video show hire him to do special editions of the currently awful Superman 3 and 4.  His effects would make those mediocre movies much more watchable.

Egads this guy is GOOD:

John Williams Documentary

Star Wars – Music by John Williams Rare 1980 Documentary

https://mattkprovideo.com/2017/12/07/john-williams-documentary/

A documentary on the amazing John Williams. He scored most of the great movie epics of the last 30 years: Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders of the Lost Ark and all its sequels, Star Wars and all its sequels!

His music is the best part of anything that he has worked on.

Williams score brought the fear and dread of the impending shark attacks in Jaws. He ( and George Lucas) had the great idea to have the music score for Star Wars contradict the pictures.  High Tech futuristic imagery with old style pseudo classical music underneath gave the potentially goofy movie a seriousness and elegance it wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Say what you want about the Phantom Menace…. John Williams music score, especially “Duel of the Fates” is excellent!

At 14:06 you can see the Carbon Freeze scene from The Empire Strikes Back with the original undubbed voices!

Merry Christmas from Artex Funding

Merry Christmas from Artex Funding

Drawn in Adobe Flash ( Adobe Animate) then exported as a “.swf” file,

It was a little bigger than 1920 by 1080 so I brought the flash  “.swf” file into Adobe After Effects. I scaled it down about 80 %.  Then I added the website url and phone number, luckily Adobe After Effects had the same font installed as I used in Flash.

I felt the white lettering didn’t stand out enough from the bright white background. So even though it was drawn line art already, I added an adjustment layer with the Stylize > Cartoon filter over everything.  It gave the lines a greater thickness.

Then I added another adjustment layer with the ” CC Snowfall” effect on it. White snowflakes against a white background?  I put the snow effect layer UNDER the cartoon layer- this giving the snowflakes a thin outline.

https://www.lynda.com/After-Effects-tutorials/Adding-snow-using-CC-Snow/104216/108662-4.html

I rendered it all as a  Quicktime H.264  “.mov ” so it could be uploaded easily to Youtube.

Then I shared it via Twitter and Google Plus.

This is a “Christmas Card”  that ArTex Funding can send out to their clients.

I am a little confused, I thought I read somewhere that the Endor scenes were shot in a part of the forest that was “due to be clear cut anyway”.  And yet there it all still is.

I am assuming that trail was blazed by Star Wars fans wanting a picture by the locations, but actually that trail is there in the 1983 film. You’ve got to look real quick but its there.

If they made this film today there would be using newer, more advanced “steadi cams”  or drones or…. ( yukk!) CGI.  One idea I always had was the lay many MILES of dolly track with a real practical speeder bike on it and just film it.

SEO thoughts

I am no expert on making a website thats easy to find on google. I am not an expert on Search Engine Optimization.

But I did figure out one small technique that might help.

Whenever I finish a video project I want to share it on youtube so my clients can see it, or THAT is its final destination.

However, I dont send folks the youtube link directly. I post the youtube file onto my website first, then I share the web page on facebook. That way I get more hits on my website.

Such as:
https://austintxweddingvideo.com/2017/11/10/zack-and-aimee/

If I sent just the youtube link, I might get a lot of youtube hits. But If I send out my web addresss, people have to go to my website first, upping the web pages hit count. I get web hits but when they click on the video I get the youtube hits as well.

That is a wedding video.  I posted it to the brides facebook page and within 20 minutes it had over 20 hits.  An hour later it had almost 50 hits.   All her friends and family were eager to see her wedding reel. So they all rushed to my website.  Just a youtube post wouldnt draw anyone to my website.  I made it so that all those people had to go to my wedding video website to get to the youtube video.  They could  now  click on the youtube link and just share that. But I don’t think they will/ We will see, its only been one day.

I really want people interested in getting a web video produced will find me. I shoot video, edit it and create animations.  I hope if someone does a google search on “video production austin” or  “video production san antonio”  will find me and hire me.

UPDATE:

I just went to :

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

and tested my three websites.

this one,  www.mattkprovideo.com  ( my website about animation and video production)

http://www.lovestorytexas.com    ( my alleged high end wedding video website).

and www.austintxweddingvideo.com   ( which is supposed to be my website for lower cost wedding video services).

I would think my lovestorytexas.com website would rank highest, the mattkprovideo would be second and the simple low end wordpress wedding site would be last.

Not so fast

the low end wedding video site ranked highest:

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Faustintxweddingvideo.com%2F&tab=desktop

https://mattkprovideo.com/  got a POOR mobile device ranking. 62 / 100

but a “Needs Work  76 / 100″ on desktops.

http://lovestorytexas.com/    got “Poor  33 / 100″  for mobile and  “Poor 30 / 100″ for desktop computer users.

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Flovestorytexas.com

wow. a lot of work to do.

Vatos Deleted Scene

Vatos Deleted Scene, The Walking Dead.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtTvIMhrZS4

Season 2, After they flee the CDC, they think they can go to the hideout of their former enemies and maybe now friends, the Vatos who are hiding in a relatively secure “old folks home”.

They find the place over run by walkers.

Its a great idea doing a “sequel” to the Season 1 Vatos episode.  They never explained what happened…. WHO killed them? The Governors group?  The saviours were too far away.

I think this scene was cut because of a few logical errors in the writing.

If they could blast a swarm of walkers in one scene why kneel down and hide from ONE walker int he next scene. And how could Darryl figure out what happened before the two cops in the scene?

Star Trek Ahead of Its Time

mattkprovideo.com/2017/07/28/star-trek-ahead-of-its-time/

Top 10 Times Star Trek Was Way Ahead of Its Time

I so love this list.  When I watch watch Star Trek reruns in the 70s, ALL of the technology was fantasy.

Even the automated doors.  I can remember as  acid most grocery stores had old style hinged doors, but more and more were started to add “futuristic” automatic sliding doors.  As kids we loved to play with them, jumping on the pad to get the electronic doors to open ”like on star trek”.

When cell phones arrived in the late 90s, we were like “ we finally have star trek communicators….

Sure, it was always  the tendency of electronics to keep getting smaller and better. Big military and Police  radios were too expensive and too big for regular people. But maybe one day inventors could make “radios” like that available to regular folk.  And Star Trek put ideas like that into engineers minds,  Star Trek had the idea, not the science, to do it. Engineers could take Star Trek ideas and build the science into it.

Star Trek had desktop computers 30 to 40 years before the real world did.  PADD’s….. iPads…

Tablets…

We don’t have replicators but we have the beginnings of 3D printing. We don’t have warp drive but…. well we’re nowhere near THAT, but who knows, maybe some day…

One thing this list forgot to include is that in the sixties, medical technology on Star Trek was pure fantasy. You could see a patients vital signs on computer screens. That didn’t exist then but its common place now.
