Innocent Bystanders XFer

Rough transfer of a VHS copy of a 16mm film

“Innocent Bystanders.” This is a 16mm film I made in college (Glassboro State College, now known as Rowan University). Shot in 1991. This is simply a VHS video camcorder pointed at a flat-bed steenbeck film editing screen. I re-edited the VHS on an Amiga Toaster around 1992.

I recently (2021) transferred the VHS to digital. I am hoping to do a 4K restoration soon.

Dolly Zoom

Some YouTube video tutorials on how to do the “vertigo effect.” The “dolly zoom” (physically dolly on the camera as you zoom out the lens) used by famous film director Alfred Hitchcock in “Vertigo,” Steven Spielberg on Roy Scheiders’ face in “JAWS” and many other films.

Today I shot some scenes for a rap video. It is going to be for Killeen Texas based rap artist “Kno13ody”  for his song “Open My Eyes.”

I although I am producing the video, we shot the green screen shots at “Powerhouse Media Productions” in Del Valle Texas.

Powerhouse Media Productions

They shot with a 4K  Panasonic GH4, with three studio lights in front of a green screen. i am going to key out the green in Adobe After Effects,

Rare Old HD Special Effects And Action Scenes

mattkprovideo.com/2018/08/13/rare-old-hd-special-effects-and-action-scenes/

At 1.28 that looks pretty real. I am assuming / hoping its a camera on dolly track and someone tugs it on a robe at the last second. I think the footage is speeded up.

2.40  I think thats Hitchcock’s STRANGERS ON A TRAIN

Strangers on a Train (film)

I 3.22 we see the words “dan marruffo ”

I googled “dan marruffo  race car movie”

and found :

The Dan Marruffo footage is 2 minutes in….  I suppose thats documentary / newsreel footage of a real race.

I’ll keep searching and keep you posted.
