Adam West Sued over this

https://mattkprovideo.com/2017/07/16/adam-west-sued-over-this/

Adam West sued because they stole his voice and likeness. West never owned Batman but how could anyone deny that the commercial actor was copying his voice and style.

http://articles.latimes.com/1989-08-05/local/me-373_1_adam-west

The TV actor from the 60s Batman show (Adam  West) is seeking  $Nine Million in damages the advertising agencies that made television commercials with an Adam West impersonator.

Adam West claimed that the other Batman actor used West’s “likeness, personality, voice and mannerisms” in a way that would make viewers believe they were watching West.

The TV Commercials depict the Batman and Robin characters Christmas shopping  at Zayre’s, (a chain of stores).

West’s  claims that the commercials had been shown numerous times in the United States since 1984 and that his “reputation as an actor” had been damaged.   Robert Winckler (Wests’ lawyer ) said “They just hired a person to imitate him because they didn’t want to pay for the real thing. They just can’t hire someone to look alike or sound alike.”

Tebelius said that in November, Bette Midler was awarded $400,000 in damages from the ad agency that used an ex-Midler backup singer to mimic her voice.

By Dan Wallach        Tuesday, July 12, 2016
Ruth Woods, who served as Vidor’s mayor for almost three years in the early 1990s and stared down the Ku Klux Klan as she fought for desegregation of public housing in her city and prevailed in a recall attempt launched by the racist group, has died. She was 82.

Woods was a month short of her 83rd birthday when she died Saturday at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
During her tenure as Vidor mayor, Woods battled public perception of Vidor as a racist city on a television program and in Texas Monthly magazine, in an article published in December 1993.

She also withstood threats of physical harm from the racist group whose members fought efforts to desegregate an all-white public housing complex in Vidor.

Former Mayor Larry Hunter, who preceded Woods in office, said Woods was courageous for her stand and she did the right thing and got council rallied with her.
Hunter, a lawyer in private practice in Beaumont who still lives in Vidor, said her council for the first time in the city’s history, denied a parade permit to an outside “nationalist” group that wanted to protest the desegregation order.

“It was good money spent, saying no,” Hunter said. “We were tired of being the stomping grounds for such malarkey.”
Woods, in an early 1994 article in The Enterprise, sharply criticized the tabloid TV program “A Current Affair” for a segment is showed using hidden cameras to report on a black man living in Vidor for two weeks.
Texas Monthly, in December 1993, had published a 12-page piece titled “The Most Hate-Filled Town in Texas,” referring to Vidor.
“I thought Texas Monthly was a sleaze bag and that nobody in journalism or whatever they call themselves could stoop any lower, but ‘A Current Affair’ did,” she said.
The article never mentioned the racist protests began with agitation from a klan leader based in Cleveland or that a so-called nationalist group from Mississippi sought the parade permit.
Hunter said he had run for mayor, defeating four other candidates including Woods to impose a half-cent sales tax for the city. Once he’d accomplished that, he asked Woods to run, which she did in 1991.
“I finished my term, then the roof caved in,” he said, referring to the struggles about race.

GAME OF DEATH needs to be remastered

Theres lots of older movies that get digitally remastered / enhanced “special editions.” And many new Hollywood hits use face replacement technology- to put stars faces onto stunt performers etc…

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Death

When the greatest Asian Martial Arts star ever, Bruce Lee, died leaving his last film ” Game of  Death” unfinished, the producers TRIED to save the project with body doubles and awful 1970s face replacement technology:

By todays standards, it is laughably bad.

I would like to suggest that whoever has the rights to the original master footage of Game of Death partners up with ILM or whoever and make a special edition.  Replace Lees face with state of the art CGI, clean up and remaster the rest of film, and maybe even make it 3D.

Now, I don’t think facial replacement technology is quite where it should be – yet. They’re getting closer to reality. Tarkin and Lei came close, but there is something inescapably difficult to capture about the human face that even the best efforts look a little…. goofy. I think Lee would be worth the effort.

Bruce Lee is still thought of as one the greatest movie stars in the world. I think a “new” 3D film starring the Legendary Bruce Lee would be a huge hit in Asia, America and most of the world.  They would more than make their money back and then some.

This is a whiskey commercial with a CGI Bruce Lee that comes REALLY close:

Lennons father cashing in on his sons fame

https://mattkprovideo.com/2017/07/12/lennons-father-cashing-in-on-his-sons-fame/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That%27s_My_Life_(My_Love_And_My_Home)

That’s My Life (My Love And My Home)” is a 1965 single by Alfred “Freddie” Lennon, who was the father of John Lennon of The Beatles.[1][2]

Tony Cartwright, co-author of the song, began writing the song in inspiration from Lennon’s stories that he told.[3] When released, the song saw commercial success, with Morris Levy of Roulette Records requesting Cartwright to bring Lennon to the United States. However, the song suddenly disappeared from the charts, an action suspected by Cartwright to be executed by his son, John Lennon.

The record vanished from the charts. In Europe and the U.S., it was pulled. Only a very few music business figures had the power to do that, and I had my suspicions about who was behind it. Others accused Brian Epstein, but Eppy was my friend, and I knew he wouldn’t sabotage my record — unless John told him to do it. Why would John wreck his own father’s career? Sheer jealousy and insecurity are the only motives I can guess at. We drove to Weybridge to confront John, but he slammed the door in our faces.

— Tony Cartwright, Daily Mail[3]

The song featured Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.[3]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Lennon

After Christmas, in 1965, John was embarrassed to hear that Alf had made a record: “That’s My Life (My Love and My Home)“, released on 31 December 1965.[39][40] John asked Epstein to do anything he could to stop it being released or becoming a hit. The record never made it into the charts.[41] In 1966 “Freddie Lennon” (the name under which Alf recorded) tried again, and issued three singles with the group Loving Kind. These records did not sell well, either. Though the public at large quickly forgot these attempts to cash in on his son’s success with the Beatles, the records do command fairly high prices among collectors of rare records, with “That’s My Life” being worth over £50.[42]

TV Commercials for CPAP Sleep Aids by ARDEN INNOVATIONS

https://mattkprovideo.com/2017/07/09/2366/

I was hired to shoot and edit these two instructional videos for sleep apnea products. I used my Canon G20 camcorder an a slider.  I edited in Adobe Premiere with a little bit of Photoshop and After Effects.  The client wrote and “directed” it (which was fine because I wouldn’t know how to “direct” a tv commercial about this product anyway). The client also pre-recorded his voice on his home computer.
