When I tried my hand at standup comedy, I learned how hard it is to be funny for just 3 minutes, much less 6 hours a day. 

When Howards show had prepared audio skits, it was great.  But it was often Howard just making stuff up off the top of his head- which sometimes worked, was some times un funny, often offensive, and eventually really boring.

When the Howard Stern show was about…. the Howard Stern show (arguments with his staff, insulting them) I turned it off. They are hinting that his final year will be just one day a week. If he spends the other 4 days a week preparing well thought out and professionally executed audio skits, he will go out on top.
